Jög Blue brings together masters of jazz, blues, and Indian classical music in a 21st-century mix, creating an experience drawing from deep traditions while also swinging towards the future. The band is named for Jog, the Indian midnight raga, and the blues, the most American of music genres.
All these musical traditions balance compositions and known forms with deep and exhilarating improvisations. They require the musicians to deeply listen to each other. What results is a journey into the suffering, joys, and liberation of the human experience. An integral part of both raga and blues - two genres of focus for the band - Jög Blue’s performance at Magazzino will explore composition and improvisation, celebrating an international blend of musical expression. It is composition which provides form and improvisation which organically grows out of the space of musicians listening deeply to each other. This event invites the audience to do the same and results in a communal journey, guided by music, into the suffering, joys and liberation of the human experience.
