For the second year, Magazzino will present an evening concert featuring violinist Daisy Jopling and pianist Steve Sandberg.
The musical performance will take place in the courtyard of the Museum’s Main Building, tracing a path through landmark compositions and experimental territories in music, from Claudio Monteverdi and Antonio Vivaldi to Luciano Berio and Pino Daniele.
Daisy Jopling is a classical/rock violinist born in London, and now lives in New York. She has toured the world with her own band, the Daisy Jopling Band & with the creative string trio Triology. She has recorded nine albums, two with BMG RCA Victor. Jopling was the first international violinist to perform a major concert at the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on November 4, 2022, collaborating with Egyptian stars Hany Adel, Wust El Balad and Noha Fekry. Jopling has collaborated with superstars worldwide, including Bobby McFerrin and Rob Evan from the US, Hollywood’s Hans Zimmer, India’s Shubha Mudgal, Cuba’s Omara Portuondo, Africa’s Oliver Mtukutsi, Austria’s Joe Zawinul, Wolfgang Muthspiel and Julian Rachlin, The Netherland’s Janine Jansen, Russia’s Boris Grebenshikov and London’s Tony Award Winning director Tom Morris.
Steve Sandberg is an Emmy-nominated composer, pianist, and teaching artist. A graduate of Yale University and a student of the legendary Seymour Bernstein, Sandberg has an extensive background in classical, Latin, jazz and rock music. His career includes international tours with artists such as David Byrne of Talking Heads, as well as performances with salsa greats including Celia Cruz and Tito Puente. He also opened for João Gilberto in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Sandberg has conducted and arranged on Broadway and for many regional theaters, including the New York Shakespeare Festival.
