From still-life painting to video art and installation, flowers have been protagonists of art across the centuries. Their countless shapes, colors, and scents have inspired artists to explore ideas of grace, fragility, and the passage of time.
Just as art has long imitated and entered into dialogue with flowers, flowers too can enter into dialogue with art, and respond to it. Join us for a workshop with Lindsey Taylor, author of Art in Flower. Participants will learn about Magazzino’s local flora, explore the connections between artworks and strategies of floral composition, and consider how color, texture, form, balance, and movement can be translated from one medium to another. Drawing inspiration from works on view at Magazzino, participants will then have the opportunity to create a composition of their own, transforming their encounter with art into a floral arrangement.
