Seventy-Two Names – Italian Garden

Magazzino partners with Atelier Marco Bagnoli to present Marco Bagnoli's new exhibition

Magazzino presents the film Seventy-Two Names – Italian Garden, documenting the creation and history of Marco Bagnoli’s site-specific work. The exhibition opened this summer, May 20, 2022, in the park surrounding the Medici Villa Ambrogiana in Montelupo Fiorentino, and we are excited to share it with you through film.

Seventy-Two Names – Italian Garden contains 72 blue, green, and copper ceramic vases fired three times. While the complex artwork was being prepared in kilns, Giulia Lenzi in collaboration with Okno Studio worked on the film, which features choreography by Catherine Galasso at Marco Bagnoli’s atelier, as well as at the park of the Villa Ambrogiana. In addition, the craftspeople who worked on Seventy-Two Names – Italian Garden are also active participants in the film. The music of the performance is by Michael Galasso.

Magazzino is one of the partners presenting the film, including the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art in Prato, the Ceramics Museum in Montelupo Fiorentino, and other centers and cities belonging to the AICC or Associazione Italiana Città della Ceramica.

The project is made with support of the Italian Council (IX edition, 2020), a program for the international promotion of Italian art by the Contemporary Creative General Director at the Ministry of Culture (MIC).
