Homemade

A behind-the-scenes look into the exhibition Homemade.

Magazzino Italian Art was proud to present a short film titled Homemade, by Domenico Palma, which provided a behind-the-scenes look into the exhibition Homemade, on view at Magazzino Italian Art from July 9, 2020 through September 7, 2020.

Marking the first exhibition of contemporary art to be mounted on-site at Magazzino in the museum’s history, Homemade, included approximately 30 works created by eight New York-based Italian artists—including Alessandro Teoldi, Andrea Mastrovito, Beatrice Scaccia, Danilo Correale, Davide Balliano, Francesco Simeti, Luisa Rabbia, and Maria D. Rapicavoli—during the global quarantine.

Originally launched as part of Magazzino da Casa’s digital program, Homemade culminated with an in-person exhibition of the final artworks created over the project’s two-month duration. Curated by Director Vittorio Calabrese with Chiara Mannarino, the works on view demonstrated how participating artists pushed their practice during this period, using new methods and materials, and interrogating new issues.

A live streamed conversations with the artists who participated in Homemade, along with Vittorio Calabrese and Chiara Mannarino, Assistant Curator of Homemade, discussed the project on Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. EST.

Film available here on August 3, 2020.
