Magazzino Italian Art was delighted to announce the Yoichi Ohira Symposium, a morning of conversations and perspectives about Yoichi Ohira and his contributions to contemporary glass in Murano. The event took place on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in the newly inaugurated Spazio Aperto community room at the museum. The Symposium brought together an extraordinary group of artists, curators, and scholars for a series of engaging presentations and conversations exploring Ohira’s artistic journey, his unique approach to glassmaking, and his lasting impact on contemporary studio glass in Murano and beyond.
Among the speakers were glass artist Toots Zynsky, curator Francesca Giubilei, and independent scholar Howard Lockwood. They will share diverse perspectives on Ohira’s practice, the Murano glass tradition and contemporary studio glass.
