The Brasiles Ensemble

Holiday performance by Highlands quintet, The Brasiles Ensemble.

The Brasiles Ensemble, a Highlands quintet of delightful voices accompanied by lute and piano, celebrated the holiday season and toasted to the new year with a concert at Magazzino Italian Art.

The quintet takes their unusual name from founder Madeleine DeNitto’s ancestors, whose Italian last name, Brasiles, is reminiscent of the life her family left behind to start a new chapter in the U.S. After the great success of the Nocturnal Concert in November 2013, the group has had a pivotal role in the holiday celebrations of many cultural institutions in Philipstown, New York, such as the Dickensian caroling performed on Cold Spring’s Main Street and at Boscobel’s annual Twilight Tours, as well as concerts at Cold Spring’s Chapel of Restoration and St. Philip's Church in Garrison.

At Magazzino, the festivities started at 5:00pm with light refreshments prior to the concert, which started at 6:00pm. The evening's repertoire of The Brasiles Ensemble included Italian arias, madrigals and Gregorian Latin masterpieces, lasting approximately 45 minutes.

Seating was limited. RSVP for the event was required.
