Paola Mura

Artistic Director

Paola Mura has over 30 years of experience in cultural heritage conservation and management. She holds a PhD in Architecture specializing in Museum Studies, and a Master’s degree in Conservation and Management of Contemporary Art. Her academic and professional expertise informs her approach to museum leadership and curatorial work.

Before joining Magazzino Italian Art, Dr. Mura was Director of the Civic Museums of Cagliari, where she oversaw the reinstallation of the institution’s modern, contemporary, and Asian art collections. She has collaborated with the City Administration of Cagliari, the Italian Ministry of Culture, and the EACEA Agency of the European Commission, contributing to significant cultural heritage projects at both national and European levels.

Dr. Mura has curated numerous exhibitions, including partnerships with Magazzino Italian Art, such as Arte Povera from the Olnick Spanu Collection. As Artistic Director, she has curated Marco Anelli: Building Magazzino 2014–2024 (August – October 2024) and the ongoing Maria Lai: A Journey to America (November 2024 – July 2025), showcasing key aspects of contemporary Italian art and its global resonance. Her work at Magazzino Italian Art emphasizes fostering connections between Italian contemporary art and a wider international audience, enhancing the institution’s role as a platform for cultural dialogue.
